Our Purpose

Building life-changing relationships with God and each other:

Bay Country Church is a non-denominational and non-traditional gathering of people from all walks and stages of life. BCC is known for its casual and welcoming environment. A BCC catch phrase, “Come once you’re a friend, come twice you’re family” is exemplified in practical and easily identifiable ways. The messages are challenging, often funny and always relevant. The ministry schedule is intentionally planned with your personal schedule in mind. BCC understands that people’s lives are busy and family schedules are often filled to capacity. With that in mind, Sunday Worship services are approximately one hour in length. BCC desires to positively affect Cambridge, Dorchester County and the Eastern Shore with the life-changing gospel of Jesus Christ.

Our Approach:

At BCC, we believe that there are some clear absolutes in the Bible. It is our intent, desire and purpose to faithfully obey those biblical commands. However, we also understand that there are many areas of scripture upon which men and women may disagree; in those areas, our approach is as follows: “We will agree to disagree agreeably.” A man named Rupertus Meldenius who lived in the 1400's said it this way "In essentials we have unity, in non-essentials we have liberty, in all things love." At BCC, our aim is to make love the motivating and defining principle by which we do ministry.

Our Style:

The BCC environment is intentionally casual. This includes everything from our attitude to our attire. We believe that life without laughter is empty and fellowship without fun is boring! Again, our mission as a church is to "Build life-changing relationships with God and each other." As a result, we are passionate about creating “good chemistry” opportunities where men and women can serve with other adults who have similar interests and personalities. As far as your attire is concerned, blue jeans and sneakers (our pastor’s personal favorite!), shorts and flip-flops are the normal Sunday morning apparel. However, if you want to dress up a little, that’s OK too!

Our Music:

The music at BCC is sung and played by a live band. It is contemporary and high-energy in its style and is delivered with passion and excellence with praise to God being the ultimate motivation. It is our belief that musical excellence is one of the most important aspects of a Sunday morning service.

Our Discipleship:

We believe that if BCC is to be effective in helping people grow in their faith, we must provide many different environments wherein
each individual can do so at his/her own comfort level regardless of age or level of spiritual growth.

One way we do this is through Life Groups. Life groups are established based on subject matter, location and/or existing relationships.

Life groups provide a safe and relaxed atmosphere where people can be open and honest about issues we all face in life.

Life Groups are small gatherings of men and women who meet in homes in and around the Dorchester County area. They provide opportunities to grow in faith while building life-changing relationships with God and each other.

Although Life Groups enable men and women to grow deeper in their relationship with Christ, they are formed primarily for the purpose of developing relationships with one another.

Groups are established around friendships, discussion topics, hobbies, etc. Their schedules and locations are determined by the members of each individual group.

For those who are looking for something a little more traditional Sunday morning "Cross-Training" (Sunday School) and/or mid-week Bible Studies are provided as well.
